Text Books Section

This section has the collection of text and reference books prescribed in the syllabus and relevant text books recommended by the staff in all the branches of study. Staff and students can borrow these books for home reading.

Periodical Section

Library has been subscribing 247 National journals in print form. Journal issues can be referred in the library only.

New Addition Section

New additions of books are to be displayed in the “New Addition Section” for a period of one month before the transfer to respective sections for use.

Reference Section

This section has Reference books, Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Directories, Exam Guides, Standards, Manuals, Handbooks, Proceedings; High priced books and collection of University question paper booklets. These resources can be referred in-house reading purpose only.

Circulation Section

Users can approach this section for Issue, Return and Renewal of books, membership, overdue, loss of book, photocopy and for assistance to any library services.

Borrowal of Books

All the students / staff members are provided with an identity card bearing their roll number / identity number that is bar-coded. The services of the library are extended to the users based on this bar-code number. Users can take the books from the book section by themselves and submit them along with their library token in the circulation section. On making necessary entries in the system the circulation staff issues the book or accepts the return.

Duration of Loan

Books are issued for a period of one month for students and two months for staff members. A borrowed book may be renewed for one more period, if no other user has reserved the same. On special request, Reference Books, Current Periodicals and Back Volumes are issued on overnight basis only. Books should be returned on or before the due date mentioned in the date slip.

Reservation

Members can reserve books that have been issued through the library OPAC. The reserved book(s) will be kept at the counter for 2 days for issue. If members fail to collect the book/s within 2 days, the books will be given to the next member in the wait list.

Overdue Charges

If a borrowed book is not returned / renewed with in the due date of return, an overdue charge of Rs.0.50 per day will be levied.

Loss of Books

If a borrowed book is lost or damaged, the borrower is required to replace the same edition or latest edition of the same book. If it is not done so, an amount equivalent to triple the cost of the book has to be remitted.

OPAC

OPAC is an acronym of “Online Public Access Catalogue”. It facilitates online search queries related to availability of library resources viz. Books, Book Bank books, Journals, CD/DVDs, Back volumes and Standards.

Book Bank Section

This section caters to the needs of students who avail the post-metric scholarship offered by the Government of India. Presently 16457 books are available under this category. The eligible students can avail five books at a time. They are issued for a period of one semester and to be returned by the end of the semester.

Back Volume Section

Back issues of journal were bound every year and kept in this section for reference purpose. Back volumes can be borrowed for a period of one day only.

Bosch Corner

This center is established after the MoU between CIT and Robert Bosch India Ltd. It provides updated information to the staff and students particularly in the field of Automobile Engineering through related books, posters, CDs and journals.

Reprography Section

Staff and Students can photocopy the required pages of books and journals available in the library by paying Rs.0.50 per page. Request for photocopying of full book and outside materials will not be entertained.
