Coimbatore Institute of Technology (CIT), Coimbatore, is a Government Aided Autonomous Institution established in the year 1956. The Institute offers Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Ph.D research programmes in Engineering. The Institute is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. CIT has recognised as one of the Teaching Learning Centre by MHRD under the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) scheme.

About PMMMNMTT

The PMMMNMTT Mission is envisaged to address comprehensively all issues related to teachers, teaching, teacher preparation and professional development. PMMMNMTT is to bridge the gap between teachers and teacher educators and provide opportunities for teachers to become teacher educators

Goals

  • To ensure a coordinated approach so as to holistically address the various shortcomings relating to teachers and teaching across the educational spectrum ranging from school education to higher education including technical education; using the best international practices for excellence.

 

  • To create and strengthen the institutional mechanisms at the Centre & in the States, for enlarging training and discipline–wise capacity building of faculty and their periodic assessment for excellence.

 

  • To empower teachers and faculty during through training, re-training, refresher and orientation programmes in generic skills, pedagogic skills, ICT and technology enabled training and other appropriate interventions.

The mission of TLC is to,

  • Provide training in pedagogy to young teachers
  • Offer Management Capacity Enhancement Programme (MCEP) to senior teachers
  • Expose the teachers to state of the art techniques relating to assessment and evaluation
  • Prepare the teachers to offer holistic training to the students
  • Groom teachers to maintain/practice high ethical standards in teaching-learning process

  • To disseminate novel project ideas
  • To discuss latest updates/developments in subjects

  • To offer supplementary tools – Tutorials (Hands on Training)
