Department of Humanities

The Department of Humanities was inaugurated in 1957. Currently , the department offers  Technical English in the I Semester and Professional English in the II Semester for the I year B.E./ B.Tech.  and M.Sc. Students . It also offers Foreign Languages ( German & French) as an elective paper  in the  II Semester for the I Year B.E./ B.Tech,  I Year M.Sc. and I  year MCA Students under Choice Based Credit System. For the Post Graduate MCA Students, the department  offers Communication Skills and Professional English in the  I Semester and II Semester. It also offers Employability Skills and Soft Skills Development courses for the II year and III year B.E. / B.Tech. Students respectively. Apart from this, it offers  English for Academic  Purpose, English for Competitive Exam and Life and Literature as Open Elective Papers under Choice Based Credit System.

The Department imparts Soft Skill training to the I & II Year B.E / B.Tech. Students to ameliorate their placement prospects.. It also offers  Special Coaching classes for the Vernacular Medium Students and Remedial Classes for Arrear Students, and  Communication Skills for II Year B.E. / B.Tech. Lateral Entry Students after college hours. The Humanities  Department also offers Industrial Economics, Principles of Management, Current Trends in  Indian Economy and Monetary Economics as  Elective Papers under Choice Based Credit System.

VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT

The vision of the Department is to ensure that students perceive themselves confidently as skilled professionals with global competency in Communication skills and technical education, developing the students logical, creative, and critical thinking skills. The Department envisions that students imbibe creativity and innovation that equips them to face the challenges of the current universal trends in Engineering and Technology.

MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Humanities strives to promote proficiency in communication skills and excellence in academic pursuits of the Engineering students. It facilitates the learners to construct a strong foundation for building a successful career in various fields that rely on creative and efficient communication. The Department faculty inculcates aesthetic appreciation among the learners by encouraging creative thinking and promoting innovative ideas that ensure a vibrant student culture on and off the campus.

An MOU was signed with the British council in 2004 which paved the path for offering the Business English Certificate (BEC) course in collaboration with the British Council by the department. The course holds an international bench marking and it is recognized across the globe. CIT is the recognized as center for conducting BEC exams. Another MOU was signed with Sutherland Global Services for conducting Training Sessions for Faculty and students on Interview Skills, Group Communication and Teaching of English Pronunciation, Grammar and right Accent. The Department has also signed  IELTS Partnership deed with British Council  and Connecting Campus to Corporate. It provides  free Online coaching to the students.

The Department has also entered into Research Collaboration with Foreign University by signing an MoU with Jishnou University, China for an faculty exchange and Research in Management Projects.

The Department has organized One National Conference and One International Conference.  The Department has also conducted 8 Faculty Development Programmes and 30 student workshops under TEQIP Phase II.
