Department of Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 1956. This was followed by Post Graduate Programme in Structural Engineering in the year 1969, Part- time B.E Programme in Civil Engineering in the year 1971 and Ph.D. Programme in Civil Engineering in the year 1978. Post Graduate Programme in Environmental Engineering  was started in the year 2005. Post Graduate Programme in Construction Management was started in the year 2011.

The department has a team of highly experienced faculty members with rich academic and industrial experience in various frontier engineering and technology areas.  The faculty members and students of the department are dedicated to work in the current needs of the industry and have the ability to improve their expertise in the field in Civil Engineering. They continuously excel in specialized areas of Structural Analysis & Design, Structural Optimization, Concrete Technology, Steel Structures, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Transportation Engineering, Earthquake Engineering, Remote Sensing, Impact Assessment and Prestressed Concrete Structures.

All the programmes in Coimbatore Institute of Technology are approved by the AICTE and the UG Course B.E (Civil Engineering) and PG Course in Structural Engineering are accredited by the NBA in the year 2019.

M.E. Environmental Engineering (Full Time)
