Prof. T.Senthil Vinayakam,  Associate Professor gave an overview of the workshop and Dr. S. Uma Maheswari, Associate Professor  presented the vote of thanks.

The scope of this workshop is to explore the VLSI design opportunities using the Altium Designer Software and the FPGA implementation board and to provide a hands-on experience to all participants. Expert members Mr. Venkatesha. K and Mr.Jathin K.P  Senior Application Engineers from M/s. Entuple Technologies  explained the basics to advanced features and demonstrated the above hardware and software with few interface design examples. The key focus of this workshop is the hands-on training on how to  Create, manage, compile and implement FPGA Projects in Altium Designer and   Rapidly architect  embedded systems using Altium’s OpenBus Flow which was held in three interactive lab sessions.  Twenty Seven academicians including faculty, PG and UG Students from various institutions across the state including institutes from Pondicherry, Trichy, Salem and Karaikal and Coimbatore and other areas participated in the workshop.  The organizers could not accommodate many interested participants and faculty, due to limited number of kits to provide hands-on experience which was decided to be an essential feature of this workshop. About 18 faculty members of ECE department of CIT  participated actively and had  an  excellent learning experience with hands-on training.  Apart from above, about twenty final and pre-final year students of ECE department also attended the training program and had shown great interest and enthusiasm. .

The two-day workshop ended with a closing note by the experts from Entuple Technologies. Prof. T.Senthil Vinayakam , Associate professor , ECE  distributed the certificates to the participants.

An one-day training specially for the all final year students of ECE  on the same topic was also held on 29th August’11 prior to the workshop and students participated in large numbers in this training.
