TWO DAY WORKSHOP

ON

“RESEARCH CHALLENGES IN IMAGE PROCESSING”

During 4^Th and 5^Th February, 2011 

ORGANIZED BY DEPARTMENT OF ECE, IETE Students Forum AND IIPC

COIMBATORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, COIMBATORE-14 

The workshop was successfully inaugurated by the chief guest Prof. Suptendra nath sarbadhikari, Founding Director of CAL2CAL Institute, Coimbatore on 4th February, 2011. About 85 participants from engineering colleges in around Coimbatore, 7 faculty members from CIT, 15 PG students and 15 pre-final and final year students of CIT registered and attended the workshop.

The Speaker for the morning session on 4^th February, 2011 was Prof. Suptendra nath sarbadhikari, Founding Director of CAL2CAL Institute on topic “Need for Image Processing in Medical Field”. The speaker for the next session on 4^th February, 2011 was Dr.Mohamed Mansoor Roomi, Associate Professor, Thiagarajar college of Engineering, Madurai on topic “Fundamental of Image Processing Algorithms ”. The Speaker for the afternoon session on 4^th February, 2011 was Dr.A.Rajeswari, Associate Professor, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore on topic “Transforms for Image Processing. The speaker for the next session on 4^th February, 2011 was Mr.T.Balakumaran, Assistant Professor, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore on topic “Implementation of Image Processing Algorithms using MATLAB.                        

The Speaker for the morning session on 5^th February, 2011 was Mr.E.S.Gopi, Assistant Professor on topic “Image Processing using Soft Computing tools”. The speaker for the next session on 5^th February, 2011 was Dr.S.Ramakrishnan, Professor and Head,

Dr.Mahalingam college of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi on topic “Image texture Classification using Wavelet Transformation”. The Speaker for the afternoon session on 5^th February, 2011 was Mr.B.Babu kannan, Project Leader, California Software Company Ltd, Chennai on topic “Implementation of Image Processing Algorithms in DSP Processor”.    

The workshop ended with the valedictory function with chief guest Mr.B.Babu kannan.
